Hex Mines is very similar to Minesweeper, but this one has hexagonal tiles. Like in Minesweeper, the objective is to clear the uncovered blocks without hitting mines, which will render the game instantly over and you will have to start again. To know where the mines are, you must guide yourself using the numbers that some blocks have, which indicate the number of mines present nearby. Where you think there is a mine, you can place a flag by using the right mouse button. The game will also show the total number of mines that are hidden. The game is timed, with a maximum score of 30000, which starts decreasing as time passes by. For this reason, the faster you solve the puzzle, the more score you will get.
If you manage to clear all the blocks without stepping on a mine, you will win the game and you will be shown your score. The latter can be published on multiple social sites and you can even share it by email. The game features very simple graphics and sounds, and annoying music, which fortunately, you can mute from the Options menu. A great thing is that you can also play the game from your web browser.
In short, if you are looking for a variant of Minesweeper, Hex Mines may help you pass the time with a challenging game.
